Week 4 - Finally a Monday
Weight: 136.1
Mental State: A little foggy
Life: A little gassy
Another week has arrived. This is the first of what I hope will be many that come out actually on Monday
The goal when I started posting these was really a bit of accountability. I wanted to review what I had done last week and whether or not any of it was positive or negative. But I also wanted to use that feeling to set the tone for the upcoming week. So the obvious perfect day was Monday.
Now because life is messy and I’m not great at doing what I think I should do (thus this blog), it hasn’t happened. But things don’t happen until they suddenly do. And here we are going live on a Monday. Who wudda thought?
So lets talk a little bit about the last week. Per my previous entries, things were starting to look a little bit up. We had just purchased a new washer and it was really giving off this aura of potential success. Things have calmed down a little bit since then. Life is never perfect and eventually you hit another speed bump. Today the A/C wasn’t working while we’re in the middle of a heat wave. It’s like the fourth or fifth time that’s happened this summer but the maintenance guy doesn’t really have a long term fix for us. Or at least once that doesn’t involve dropping a couple thousand dollars.
But there’s been some good news too. I was told that due to the risk of COVID19 we’re going to continue working from home from now until, at least, 2021. I know a lot of people want things to go back to normal but one of the few silver linings of this dangerous pandemic is that it has allowed me to take back some of my life. I didn’t realize until this change, but these hours commuting and this distance from where I feel best—my home—were really taking a toll. And I don’t want to go back to paying that. At least not as things are now. So, like I said, good news.
Exercise-wise, we’re still not doing anything here in chez GIT. I think I want to start again. The plan is to follow a more structured layout. Ideally I’d want this to be my schedule:
6 am - Wake up (which can sound dreadful for some, I’d imagine but I’m very much a morning person)
6-6:10 am - Meditate and weigh-in
6:10-6:30 am - Some form of exercise. I had considered doing 30 minutes of jumping rope and lunges and all that good stuff but now I’m thinking I might switch this to Yoga. I just need to find a good video for overweight, out-of-shape, beginners.
6:30-7 am - Shower, fill up water bottles and begin my day.
7 am - Drink a cup of tea as I set up my day and check my work/personal inbox.
Noon - Have a low-carb, high-protein diet.
5 pm - Walk my dogs
6 pm - Low-carb, high-protein diet.
9 pm - 30 min exercise, “rinse shower”, nightly routine and bed time.
Now the whole situation is not perfect yet. Because a) I’m not following it. But b) there just aren’t enough hours in a day to do everything I’d like to do. Especially when you have to factor in about 5 hours of procrastination. But at the very least it would guarantee about an hour of exercise a day. So we’ll see how this goes going forward.
Food-wise, things are generally pretty. I am going to eat some fish today (which I love) with a nice salad. On Sundays, my brother and I still get together and cook and it’s something that is non-negotiable to keep in my routing. Even if the food isn’t the most healthy. Because frankly I think I am bonding so much with him and our relationship is improving because of it.
This upcoming week I want to be better at setting up and planning my food ahead. Not just for me but also because I hate food waste. Honestly it’s one of the worst qualities of human beings. Not only do I find it to be fairly cruel the way we procure meat but the wastefulness while people are out their hungry? Straight up evil.
So yeah, that’s about it.
I know these blog entries are a little bit rambly but they’re that way by design. I try not to go back to much and edit.
Also I don’t want this blog to be just about weight loss. So I’m going to try to blog about some other things I care about and also throw in some of the delicious food we’ve been cooking. You have no idea how good this food is!
Cheers. <3
